About our Accommodation
The Social Action Services (SAS) of the University of Algarve currently manage 10 University Residences with a total capacity of 558 beds, and 2 new residences will be inaugurated in the 2026/2027 academic year, one on the Penha Campus and the other on the Gambelas Campus, increasing the total capacity to 854 beds. These residences are intended for students enrolled in undergraduate and master's degree programmes.
Students who receive scholarships under the National Scholarship Scheme are given priority. Other students may also benefit from university accommodation, subject to the availability of places.
The residences are located in Faro, Gambelas and Portimão and offer different types of accommodation, including residence-style buildings and apartments. The new residences provide shared and individual studio apartments.
Designed to ensure students' well-being and conveniently located near the various UAlg campuses, the residences offer furnished rooms with bed linen, fully equipped kitchens, common areas for socialising and studying, and Internet access. SAS also provides dedicated staff responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of common areas, as well as the laundering and replacement of bed linen in the residences.
Academic staff and researchers (both national and international) may also benefit from accommodation provided by the Social Action Services of the University of Algarve, which offer 6 residences with a total capacity of 56 beds.
